St. Petersburg reminds residents of water restrictions

The city of St. Petersburg is reminding residents of watering restrictions because of current drought conditions.

Year-round restrictions require that customers with potable, private well and surface water sources water just twice weekly, between 5 a.m. and 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. and 11 p.m.

Addresses ending in an even number may irrigate only on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Those with addresses ending in an odd number and those at locations with no address may irrigate only on Wednesdays and Sundays.

The city says customers with reclaimed water are encouraged to water no more than three times per week, between 5 a.m. and 9 a.m. or 7 p.m. and 11 p.m.

Unnecessary and wasteful use of water is always prohibited, officials say, such as hosing down driveways. If conditions worsen, more stringent watering restrictions may be put into place temporarily. Current guidelines are at stpete.org/wateringrestrictions.
