A Boynton Beach woman was arrested Saturday and faces DUI and child abuse charges after she blew a .200 on a breath test with an unbuckled child in the backseat, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.
CBS12 initially reported on the arrest after a tow truck driver noticed Brandy Lerma, 31 of Boynton Beach, swerving on the road, nearly colliding with several cars.
When deputies pulled Lerma over, there was a strong smell of alcohol coming from the car and an unrestrained 3-year-old in the backseat, police said.
Lerma blew a .200 and a .187 when the responding deputy gave her a breath test. Lerma told police she took several prescription drugs and drank some amount of alcohol, according to the sheriff's office.
