TAMPA — The car may be a distraction for the son of former Hillsborough County commissioner Kevin White. But it's one White won't be able to eliminate.
A federal judge Wednesday rejected the convicted former politician's request to fly to Kansas, where his son attends college, so he can retrieve his son's car and drive it back to Florida. White said in a motion the car is a distraction, presumably to his son's studies.
White also sought permission to drive his daughter to a university in North Carolina.
White is awaiting sentencing in March on federal bribery and corruption convictions and may get a prison term.
U.S. District Court Judge James Whittemore denied the requests without comment.
