A 27-year-old man charged with what police called a "liquor-fueled joy ride" up Clearwater Beach pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 13 months in prison.

On July 20, Ryan Stiles drove onto the beach , trampling over chairs and drinking from a bottle of Canadian Mist whiskey. He made it all the way to Caladesi Island before he stopped and officers arrested him. Stiles streamed his drive on Facebook live for about five minutes. In one night, the video went from 3,000 to 42,000 views and more than 500 shares.

After his arrest, Stiles was in a holding cell when he used his belt to shatter a door's glass window, but also said he wanted to "lure officers in a trap," Clearwater police said.

Stiles of Pinellas Park pleaded guilty to charges of fleeing and eluding, criminal mischief, DUI, driving with a revoked or suspended license, reckless driving, and leaving the scene of a crash involving property damage. Prosecutors dropped a seventh charge of threatening a public servant.
