LAND O’LAKES — A Spring Hill man was arrested Saturday night after he raped a 10-year-old girl he met on Snapchat, according to the Pasco County Sheriff office.

Deputies say Austin Wyatt Altman, 22, started talking to the girl using the social media app. He drove to Hernando County to pick up the girl around 10 a.m. on Saturday. He did not have permission from the child’s guardian.

Altman then brought the girl back to his home in Spring Hill and raped her, according to Pasco sheriff’s deputies.

The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office got a call about a missing child and told Pasco deputies they believed she was with Altman. When a Pasco deputy went to Altman’s home to check, Altman said he was alone and denied knowing the girl. A Pasco deputy searched Altman’s home and found the girl in Altman’s bedroom.

Altman was arrested by Pasco deputies Saturday evening on charges of sexual battery on a child and interference with custody.

He was also arrested for violating probation. He had been arrested by Pasco deputies on a felony charge of forced entry last September.

Altman is being held at the Land O’Lakes Detention Center without bail.
