Police investigate shooting in north Tampa

TAMPA — Police were investigating Monday after a person was found shot in north Tampa.

Officers dispatched to a shooting call shortly after 1 p.m. found a person shot on North 15th Street near Fowler Avenue, Tampa police said. Officers provided first aid until Tampa Fire Rescue arrived to take the person to the hospital.

Police closed 15th Street between Fowler and East 109th avenues while the investigation was underway. Shaw Elementary and West University High School were placed on lock-in status.

A video of the scene released by Tampa police showed a sedan stopped on 15th Street. The windows on the car’s driver side appeared to have been shattered by gunfire.

No other details were immediately released.
