A Port Richey man who fired a gun into a car and killed a 14-year-old passenger in 2018 will face prison time after a jury last week convicted him of second-degree murder.
The trial of Steven Marin ended with the conviction Dec. 5, three days after it began. Marin did not testify in his defense, according to court records. His sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 31.
Pasco County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Marin, now 28, in March of 2018. Nearly a month earlier, on Valentine’s Day, 14-year-old Christian Robinson had been shot in the head when another driver fired into the car he was riding in, according to an arrest report. He was flown to a hospital, where he later died of his injuries.
An anonymous tipster led deputies to Marin, according to the arrest report, based on the car he drove and a kind of gun he owned.
Marin faces a sentence of 25 years to life in prison.
