A 33-year-old Lutz man was seriously injured in an early Sunday morning hit-and-run crash, according to a news release from the Florida Highway Patrol.

Mitchell Cribbs Jr. was crossing Nebraska Ave. near 131st Avenue at around 12:15 a.m., the release said.

An unknown driver in what the release said was “described only as a white sedan” was headed northbound on Nebraska at the same time. FHP later released still images of the vehicle.

The driver hit Cribbs, then fled the scene of the accident, the release said.

Cribbs suffered serious injuries, and was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital.

Charges in the case are pending. The Florida Highway Patrol is asking anyone with information about the accident to call 813-558-1800 or Crime Stoppers at 800-873-8477.
