TAMPA — A Tampa woman was fighting for her life after being struck by a vehicle late Wednesday night in Town 'N' Country.

Jennifer Ann Fermin, 38, was walking across West Hillsborough Avenue just east of Webb Road around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday when she entered the path of a vehicle, the Florida Highway Patrol said. Fermin was not in a crosswalk at the time of the collision, the Highway Patrol said.

The driver left the scene. Evidence indicated that the vehicle may have been an orange Hyundai sedan. Fermin was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital with critical injuries.

Anyone with information was asked to call the Florida Highway Patrol at (800)558-1800 or Crime Stoppers at (800)873-TIPS.
