ST. PETERSBURG — A 25-year-old man was arrested Tuesday and accused of shooting and killing a man in a Home Depot parking lot after arguing with him days earlier, according to St. Petersburg police.

Laroy Jerrell Williams, of St. Petersburg, faces a charge of second-degree murder. Court records show he had never been arrested in Pinellas County for a violent crime before.

Nathan Tyler, a 29-year-old veteran who had just moved back to Florida, died in Saturday’s shooting.

Police said the two men agreed to meet in the Home Depot parking lot at 2300 22nd Ave. N because of an ongoing dispute.

Tyler walked up to Williams’ car at about 10:30 p.m. Williams was sitting in the driver’ seat when he then shot Tyler multiple times, according to the arrest report. Tyler was pronounced dead at the hospital.

A police spokeswoman would not say what the two men were fighting about, saying it was part of an ongoing investigation.
