Tampa police find man with fatal gunshot wounded who crashed car into tree

TAMPA ⁠— A man with a fatal gunshot wound was found in a car that crashed into a tree early Friday, according to police.

The incident took place at E 25th Avenue and E 18th Street. Officers arrived at the scene at 12:26 a.m. to investigate a report of gunshots being heard.

They wound a wounded man in the driver’s seat of a car that had crashed into a tree and was still running, according to Tampa police.

Officers applied first aid to the man until Tampa Fire Rescue paramedics arrived and took him to Tampa General Hospital. The wounded man was later pronounced dead there. His name was not released by police.
