A Spring Hill man died after being shot multiple times in front of his house Wednesday, and deputies said they believe a renter who’d been asked to move out of the home pulled the trigger.

Deputies said Antonio Rafel Rivera, 27, had rented a room in the victim’s house for about two weeks before the pair got in an argument Tuesday. The victim asked Rivera to move out, and Rivera left that day without his belongings.

On Wednesday, deputies said, Rivera returned to the home to retrieve his belongings. The victim’s wife was there, but the victim wasn’t. Rivera left and waited outside.

At about 5:40 p.m. Wednesday, the victim got home. His wife could hear him and Rivera arguing outside the house, deputies said. She went outside and saw her husband with his hands up, backing away from Rivera. She heard several gunshots and saw her husband fall, deputies said.

Rivera took to a white motorcycle and fled the scene, deputies said. Several witnesses identified him.

Rivera is at large and should be considered armed and dangerous, deputies said. They described him as a 5-foot, eight-inch Hispanic man with long dreadlocks, a mustache and beard and tattoos covering his chest and neck.

Deputies did not identify the victim.
