LARGO — A 30-year-old Tampa man died by an apparent suicide inside the Pinellas County jail, the Sheriff’s Office announced Friday.

Detention deputies found Kyle Anthony Bilunka unresponsive at about 10:56 a.m. Friday, deputies said, in the prisoner housing area of the Pinellas County jail at 14400 49th St. N.

The jail’s medical staff performed CPR on Bilunka until paramedics arrived. They continued to perform CPR as they took him to Northside Hospital in St. Petersburg, deputies said, where he was pronounced dead at 11:48 a.m.

Detectives are investigating his death and believe his injuries were self-inflicted.

Bilunka had recently been released from Florida State Prison on Jan. 1, where he served almost two years for a slew of charges in Brevard County, including grand theft of a motor vehicle, trafficking in stolen property and forgery.

Police stopped him for appearing to drive under the influence in Clearwater on March 24, according to records. He was booked into jail on five felony charges of violating his probation in Brevard County. He faced no local charges, and was waiting to be sent to Brevard.
