Driver sought after Tampa man, 25, struck and killed in Sun City Center

The Florida Highway Patrol is seeking the driver accused of hitting a pedestrian, then driving off.

SUN CITY CENTER — A 25-year-old Tampa man was struck and killed while walking in the eastbound lane of Sun City Center Boulevard early Thursday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Now troopers are searching for whoever ran down the pedestrian and then drove off.

The incident took place at about 4:07 a.m. Thursday on Sun City Center Boulevard near Katie Stanaland Road.

Jessie Dean Schilling was walking in the eastbound lanes, the Highway Patrol said, thought it does not know why he was walking in the roadway.

Then a vehicle struck the pedestrian and drove off, troopers said. They do not have a description of the vehicle.
