Police have been searching for Lamant Lisbon’s killer for three years. On Saturday, they arrested the man they believe to have been responsible for the crime.
Jerry Peterson, 35, was arrested Saturday on charges of second-degree murder. He was booked into the Pinellas County Jail.
Peterson got into an argument with Lisbon on the night of July 5, 2017, outside of Crabb Paradise, a St. Petersburg restaurant. According to a police report, Peterson pulled out a gun and shot Lisbon around 3 a.m.
Paramedics began treating Lisbon, 42, after arriving on the scene. According to Tampa Bay Times archives, he died on the way to the hospital.
At the time of the incident, fireworks were going off in the area. St. Petersburg police spokeswoman Yolanda Fernandez said that might have kept people from realizing a gun had gone off, according to Times archives.
The police have been investigating the case for nearly three years. There was an outstanding warrant out for Peterson’s arrest, according to the report.
