Homicide investigation under way at Lakeshore Villas in Tampa

Hillsborough County sheriff’s officials said a dispute took place moments before the victim died.

A 49-year-old man faces charges of second-degree murder related to his wife’s death, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

Richard Patrick Singletary faces murder, firearm and tampering with physical evidence charges, according to a news release. Deputies began investigating the Tampa homicide in the 15000 block of Lakeshore Villa Street in Tampa on Monday afternoon.

Around 3 p.m., deputies received multiple 911 calls about gunshots at a residence in the Lakeshore Villa community. There, officials found a 60-year-old woman dead inside a home. Detectives said they learned that a dispute had taken place between the woman and her husband moments before she died.

Singletary is cooperating with detectives and an investigation is ongoing.
