St. Petersburg shooting injures three people

The shooting occurred as a large crowd was gathered on both sides of a street and an argument broke out.

Three people were injured in a shooting early this morning in St. Petersburg, police said.

The shooting occurred just before 2:30 a.m. at 1566 16th St. S as a large crowd was gathered on both sides of the street. An argument occurred and multiple shots were fired, police said.

Police said in a news release that officers were on the scene at the time, heard the shots and “helped three people who suffered injuries.”

The three people were taken to the hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life threatening, police said.

An investigation is underway and police said they are seeking witnesses.
