TAMPA — A man driving under the influence drove his sport utility vehicle into the back of a Florida Highway Patrol car with its emergency lights flashing, troopers said.
The collision occurred about 1:35 a.m. Monday as a trooper in an unmarked car was following behind a construction crew making repairs on northbound Interstate 275 north of Fletcher Avenue, the Highway Patrol said.
Donovan Terrell Davis, 35, was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence with property damage. He was being held on $500 bail in the Hillsborough County jail.
Neither Davis nor the 55-year-old trooper was injured. Both were wearing seatbelts.
