ST. PETERSBURG — Police have identified the victim and the suspect in a hit-and-run collision Saturday that claimed the life of a pedestrian.

Douglas Clark Harry Hoover, 40, of Largo, died from injuries he received when he was struck while in the median lane along the 6400 block of 38th Avenue N, St. Petersburg police said in a news release Tuesday.

The driver, in a vehicle described as a Ford F-250 or F-350 Super Duty pickup, turned right onto 66th Street N and fled, police said.

A passerby saw the pedestrian in the road and called police.

The driver turned himself in later Saturday, police said. He was identified Tuesday as Jerrod Scott Holle, 23, of Pinellas Park.

Police asked that anyone who saw the crash or who may have video call them at 727-893-7780 and mention Report No. 2021-004576.
