Man arrested in domestic homicide in St. Petersburg

A 27-year-old woman died Sunday afternoon after being shot in a domestic incident, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department.

Temidayo Ayoola, 25, was arrested on a charge of second-degree murder after the shooting, according to police.

At about 1:30 p.m., officers got a call about shots fired in the 1200 block of 8th Avenue South. The woman was taken to the hospital, where she died of her injuries. Police have not released her name because next of kin have not been notified.

Police said a 18-month-old girl was in the home at the time of the shooting but was not injured. The child was taken by the Department of Children and Families.

An investigation is ongoing.
