St. Petersburg man arrested after 2-year-old overdoses on cocaine, police say

A St. Petersburg man has been arrested on a child neglect charge after a 2-year-old girl in his care overdosed on cocaine.

Christopher Jabar Williams, 35, was arrested after the incident on Monday, arrest records show.

Williams was supervising the girl in his residence in the 600 block of 16th Avenue S when she got out of his sight and accessed the drugs, reports state. Williams knew there were drugs in the home, the reports state.

“The victim became unresponsive and was brought to the hospital where she was found to have overdosed on cocaine,” a St. Petersburg police officer wrote in an arrest report. “The victim had multiple seizures and has unknown physical and neurological injuries.”

Williams was released from the Pinellas County jail on $10,000 bail, records show.
