A music teacher from Riverview has been arrested after deputies say he sexually battered a 15-year-old student.
The teen’s father signed up the teen for guitar lessons at the Music Showcase, 402 Oakfield Drive in Tampa, in March, according to a news release from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
Jason Troche, 34, began weekly lessons with the teen, and in June, he started having sexual contact with the 15-year-old without the teen’s consent, detectives said.
Troche sexually battered his music student multiple times from June until September, according to the release. The Sheriff’s Office said he also used social media to send inappropriate messages to the teen.
Detectives say Troche admitted he had sexual relations with his student, and that he knew the child was underage.
Troche was booked into a Hillsborough County jail, and he remained in jail on a $200,000 bond Friday evening, jail records show.
The investigation is ongoing.
The Sheriff’s Office said Troche may have battered others, and anyone who has information is asked to call 813-247-8200.
