Detectives are investigating an “apparent murder-suicide” at a home in unincorporated Clearwater, according to a Saturday morning news release from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.

When deputies arrived at a home in the 1800 block of Stancel Drive around 2 p.m. Friday, Langley Dunsmuir, 70, and Erica Viney, 41, were found dead “from apparent gunshot wounds,” according to the news release and Sgt. Amanda Sinni, a spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office.

Viney moved into the home with Dunsmuir and his wife earlier this month, according to the news release. A “verbal altercation” occurred regarding the terms of the living arrangements and Dunsmuir became upset, detectives say.

Detectives believe Dunsmuir shot Viney and then turned the gun on himself, according to the news release.

This is a developing story.
