Pinellas hit-and-run crash kills teen girl, driver sought, police say

The 17-year-old was crossing U.S. 19 in Tarpon Springs when she was struck by a truck, officials said.

A 17-year-old Broward County girl is dead after she was hit by a pickup truck while crossing U.S. 19 in Tarpon Springs, according to police.

The Pompano Beach teen was hit by the driver of a Toyota Tundra near the Klosterman Road intersection shortly before 5 a.m. Tuesday, the Tarpon Springs Police Department said. The driver then fled the scene, heading north.

The girl died at the crash site, the agency said in a news release.

Police say they are looking for a silver Toyota Tundra between the 2014-2017 model years with front-end damage.
