Tampa police have arrested a suspect in connection to a homicide in the Terrace Park neighborhood this week.

Police on Friday arrested Lazaro Martinez Basilio Rojas, 26, on a charge of first degree felony murder. The arrest came three days after a man was found dead during a welfare check at home on the 2700 block of E Okara Road, just west of Busch Gardens.

Officers and Tampa Fire Rescue crews responded to the home about 2:15 p.m. Friday and found an unresponsive man in his mid-50s wrapped in a blanket. Police found Martinez hiding under a couch in the living room of the home.

Martinez was taken to a local hospital to be treated for severe hydration.

Detectives determined that Martinez attacked the man during an argument, which resulted in his death, according to police.

Police did not release the man’s name due to Marsy’s Law.

No other details have been released.
