Downtown Holy Hog adds breakfast menu

Holy Hog Barbecue's downtown location will start serving breakfast Sept. 8.

Three signature biscuits will be introduced. The Backyard Pimp Southern Fried Chicken biscuit will feature a piece of buttermilk fried chicken topped with homemade pickled dill chip. The Big Bad Biscuit includes a choice of fried chicken or steak that is then covered in sausage gravy, collard greens and cheddar cheese. And the Redneck Cuban Biscuit: a stack of country ham, pulled pork, swiss cheese, MOJO mustard and dill chips.

If those don't appeal to the taste buds, there is also a build your own biscuit option.

All will be available from 7 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

"For now, breakfast will just be served at our downtown location, but who knows what the future will hold," operations manager Matt Strickland said.

While guests must arrive before 10:30 a.m. to taste the new breakfast items, the restaurant will serve food and drink specials including free finger foods and $5 pints of Funky Buddha brews from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Their usual lunch menu will also be available for purchase .

On Sept. 11, Holy Hog BBQ will host a celebration of both the new menu and Patriot Day.

Police officers, firefighters, EMTs, military and support staff will receive a complimentary biscuit and coffee. Plus, a percentage of the proceeds of the day will be donated to the Police Benevolent Association, Hillsborough County Fire Rescue Foundation and Friends of Tampa Fire Fighters.
