Hillsborough school choice: dates to remember

The choice application period lasts through Dec. 31.

November 14: Magnet and school choice Exploration Night, 5:30-7:30 p.m., Armwood High, 12000 E Highway 92, Seffner. Families can gather information about Hillsborough’s elementary, middle and high school choice programs. They also will be able to speak with district and school staff and learn about the application process for the 2020-21 school year.

December 5: Magnet Exploration Night, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m., Jefferson High School 4401 W Cypress St., Tampa.

Open houses: Call individual schools for date and time.

Applying: The choice application period began Oct. 25 and lasts through Dec. 31. To apply, visit the school district’s Hillsborough Choice Options page. From there, click on the green “Apply” button. The website will direct you on how to proceed, including how to acquire a choice ID and PIN needed to complete the application.

Accepting: Families will find out in mid-February if they received their desired seat. They will be notified by phone and email, with a deadline for accepting and reserving their seat.
