With the 2020-21 school year about to end, case counts on Tampa Bay area campuses continue to drop as in previous weeks, with monthly totals on the interactive map below.
School districts are continuing to evaluate protocols for the coming school year, including masking.
Here is a county-by-county look at the schools with multiple cases this past week:
Hernando County: The number of cases in Hernando has dropped by half, to 17 this week. There were three cases each at Explorer K-8 and Springstead High, and two cases each at Central High, Deltona Elementary and Fox Chapel Middle School.
Hillsborough County: Despite stubbornly high community coronavirus rates in the county, Hillsborough schools are experiencing infection levels that have not been this low since October. This week there were 96 cases, and most of the schools affected had one or two cases.
SLAM Apollo Beach, the exception, had five cases.
These Hillsborough schools had three cases each: Alonso High, Cannella Elementary, Durant High and Erwin Technical College.
Pasco County: The district saw 48 cases, about a quarter of the levels seen in December and January. The biggest numbers, four, were at Anclote High and in MySchool Online. There were three cases at Zephyrhills High.
Pinellas County: The number of cases across the district dropped to 61 for the first four days of the week. No school had more than three cases. These campuses had three each: Campbell Park Elementary, Cross Bayou Elementary, Lealman Innovation Academy and Plato Academy in Clearwater.
Across the four counties, the total for the week was 222 cases. Since schools opened last August, the Times has tracked 17,115 cases in the region, nearly all of them in public and charter schools.
