Leto High School fire damages arts building

It took firefighters about 45 minutes to extinguish the fire after flames were first reported at 7:03 p.m. Tuesday.

TAMPA — The arts building at Leto High School caught fire Tuesday evening and sustained fire, smoke and water damage, Hillsborough County Fire Rescue reported.

Nobody was injured in the fire and flames were extinguished before they spread to other buildings at the school.

Fire officials say that classes at the school, 4409 W Sligh Ave., would operate normally on Wednesday.

The fire broke out in an area where roof construction was being planned, officials say. A cause of the fire was not released Wednesday.
