TAMPA — The University of Tampa announced a capital campaign seeking to raise $150 million, $135 million of which has already been pledged.

The campaign, called "Creating Tomorrow — The Campaign for the University of Tampa," aims to build new facilities, grow the university's endowment and "support academic programs, faculty and student scholarship," according to a press release.

University President Ronald Vaughn said an anonymous benefactor has issued a pledge to give $1 for ever $2 raised, up to $10 million.

Since UT's last campaign —which began in the late 90s and ended in 2005 — the university has increased enrollment by 77 percent, added 120 academic programs and increased institutional aid to students by 139 percent.
