Speakers: principal Victor Fernandez, senior class treasurer Briana Honeycutt, Carrillo and Ospina.

Quote: "You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go," Carrillo, quoting Dr. Seuss.

Shining moment: Fernandez gave an inspirational speech in English and Spanish. He was formerly principal of Pierce Middle School and has known several graduates for seven years.

awards: Ospina was one of four seniors in the U.S. to receive the Ronald McDonald House Charities/HACER scholarship worth $100,000. The award requires the recipient have at least one parent of Hispanic/Latino heritage. He will attend Hillsborough Community College with plans to transfer to Georgia Tech.
