At 11 a.m. today, Tampa Bay Times investigative reporter Michael LaForgia will discuss the Failure Factories investigative series live on Periscope.

The first installment of this yearlong project has already drawn national attention. The first part detailed how Pinellas County School Board and district leaders turned five once-average schools into some of the worst in the Florida, failing to deliver on promises of increased money, staff and resources.

The second part of the investigation, Lessons in fear, is online now at tampabay.com. These five elementary schools — Campbell Park, Fairmount Park, Lakewood, Maximo and Melrose — have more violent incidents than all 17 Pinellas high schools combined. The report also will be published in Sunday's Tampa Bay Times.

Join @TB_Times and LaForgia on Periscope at 11 a.m. today. LaForgia joined the Times as an investigative reporter in 2012. Last year, he won the Pulitzer Prize for Local Reporting for exposing problems in a Hillsborough County homeless program.
