Facebook video shows sandhill cranes squaring off with a gator in Florida. The cranes win.

A Florida man captured amazing video of some sandhill cranes squaring off with a gator in central Florida recently.

The video was taken from a vehicle by Giovanni Badalamenti, who once lived in Tampa but now lives in Winter Springs.

According to a report from Fox 35 Orlando Badalamenti was leaving a restaurant in Sanford when he saw the alligator going after three cranes.

One of the three cranes moves aggressively toward the gator, which then scurries across the street — where we’re sure his friends gave him a hard time for losing this battle and having it go out on TV.

It reminded us of this story from last year when a horse attacked a gator near Gainesville.

In the case of sandhill cranes v. gator, Badalamenti pulled out his phone and recorded the encounter — all while his windshield wipers whip and a Geico commercial plays on the radio (is there anywhere you don’t get inundated by Geico ads these days? They’re even on gator videos!)

We reached out to Badalamenti to get more details, but he was at work and said he would send us more information later. He also gave us permission to use the video, which he had posted on his Facebook page.

We’ll update this post after we hear back from him.
