Watch: Gator that visited Brandon stores gets free ride in deputy's patrol car

It's not rare to see gators lurking around areas across Tampa Bay.

What is rare, though, is seeing one slither out of a deputy's cruiser.

Hillsborough County sheriffs handled and removed an alligator that visited a CVS and Speedway at Lumsden Road in Brandon on Monday morning.

After controlling the alligator, officers gave the reptile a ride to a nearby pond in the back seat of a patrol car.

"Go, buddy! Yeah, yeah," one of the deputies could be heard saying on the video as the gator slithered out of the rear driver's side door and slowly walked into the pond — back where it belongs.

YOU DON'T SEE THAT EVERYDAY! This Florida native decided to take a trip to CVS and then a Speedway Gas Station in Brandon before Deputies Lehman, Fluellen and Grikenas along with Master Sergeant Massaro gave him a ride home. #gatortaxi #freeride #onlyinflorida #teamhcso #gogator pic.twitter.com/JiLOBYXDl6
