Whale shark captured on video by diver near Naples

A man scuba diving near Naples captured a giant whale shark on video, a rare treat in these waters.

Bill D'Antuono was diving near an abandoned radio tower about 40 miles off the coast of Marco Island last weekend when he saw the shark, according to the Naples Daily News.

D'Antuono said he spent about 20 minutes swimming around the shark. The Daily News reported that whale sharks do travel closer to shore in warm weather, but sightings are rare.

"It's just really rare," D'Antuono told the newspaper. "I can't believe I was able to spend like 20 minutes filming it."
