Sarasota — not Tampa — will be the backdrop for Donald Trump’s first public appearance in Florida since leaving office in January.
On Wednesday, Trump announced plans for a rally at the Sarasota Fairgrounds on July 3. It’s an all-day affair with speakers, food and fireworks. Trump will speak at 8 p.m.
The Republican Party of Florida is co-sponsoring the event.
The Washington Post previously reported that Trump was eying Tampa for his holiday weekend event. The first rally Trump is holding after losing re-election will be Saturday in Ohio.
