Florida’s top two Democratic contenders for governor will speak about their campaign platforms and top issues facing Floridians in back-to-back TV specials tonight.

The specials, called “Decision 2022: A Conversation with Charlie Crist” and “Decision 2022: A Conversation with Nikki Fried” will air tonight at 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Tampa Bay Times Political Editor Emily Mahoney will host the conversation, along with Spectrum Bay News 9 political anchor Holly Gregory, Spectrum News 13 political anchor Ybeth Bruzual and Orlando Sentinel reporter Jeffrey Schweers.

Spectrum Bay News 9, Spectrum News 13, the Orlando Sentinel, the Tampa Bay Times and the South Florida Sun Sentinel partnered together for the special to help give voters more information as the Aug. 23 primary election nears.

The specials will be aired on Channel 9 in Tampa Bay, Channel 13 in Orlando, the Spectrum News app and on tampabay.com.

Because the televised interview with each candidate is separate, it is not a debate.

Crist and Fried faced each other in a debate last month, the only televised debate Crist had agreed to. Whoever wins the August primary election will face Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis in the Nov. 8 general election. DeSantis does not have a primary challenger.

You can watch the specials on a live stream here that will begin at 7 p.m.
