When it comes to pretty much every major political issue from abortion to immigration to Disney, Govs. Ron DeSantis and Gavin Newsom fall on opposite sides. Expect to see those differences on full display during the debate Thursday between the two men, scheduled for 9 p.m. on Fox News.

What they’re less likely to discuss are their similarities.

The two ambitious, Gen X men are both looking to become the new standard-bearers for their parties, and both rose to national prominence during the COVID-19 pandemic.
