The Buzz on Florida Politics

Pinellas School Superintendent Michael Grego and Education Commissioner Richard Corcoran, listen as Governor Ron DeSantis addresses the press and school staff during a visit to Lakewood Elementary School in St. Petersburg in August.
The announcement Monday came after Leon County Circuit Judge John Cooper on Friday ruled that Gov. Ron DeSantis’ overstepped his constitutional authority in prohibiting mask mandates.
“Any physician that espouses this should be reported to the state medical association,” one medical expert said.
A spokesperson implies that it’s not needed since the state has reopened schools, but federal guidance states that it’s not a qualifying factor.
Several districts have announced they will defy DeSantis’ executive order.
