Ferg’s Sports Bar & Grill will hold a benefit concert at 7 p.m. Friday for the family of Mohammed “Mo” Haitham, a former Lakewood High School track star who was among the three people killed in a shooting at Naval Air Station Pensacola last week.

Haitham, who had recently completed his Navy boot camp, had been undergoing training in Pensacola to become a flight crew member prior to last Friday’s shooting. His mother, Barbara said Navy officials had told her that her son was trying to stop the gunman when he was killed.

“All donations collected during this event will go directly to Mo’s family. They are hurting, we want to help," said bar owner Mark Ferguson, also a Lakewood High alumnus.

The bar is asking for a minimum $5 donation, and says there will be a 50/50 raffle, with all proceeds going to Haitham’s family.
