Our Florida Wonders community reporting project launched a little over a year ago. The concept is simple: Ask us anything about Tampa Bay or Florida, and reporters could look into it.
Since then, Tampa Bay Times journalists have answered your questions about pirate graves, Tampa’s minarets and the names behind the buildings you pass every day.
We traveled back in time to find out how early Floridians escaped mosquitoes before bug spray and braved the heat before air conditioning.
We ventured to the top of the SunTrust building to see how it lights up and the waste management plant to find out where your waste goes after you ... go. We’ve even taken some readers along for the reporting process.
The world has changed during the past few months. Florida Wonders is here to help you make sense of it. You can ask us about the coronavirus or protests in Florida. You can also ask us about that strange landmark in your neighborhood. No question is too big or too small.

We’re excited to join a group of newsrooms around the country who received funding from the Community Listening and Engagement Fund for Hearken’s Engagement Management System. Hearken is a company that helps newsrooms tell stories based on what the public is interested in learning about.
For the next few months, the Tampa Bay Times will be using Hearken’s community engagement tool to collect and answer reader questions.
We’re inviting readers to submit the questions they want our reporters to look into. Soon, you’ll be able to see what others are asking and vote on the questions you’d like to see answered.
Give it a try in our form. If you’re having trouble loading the form in your browser, you can visit the form directly here.
We can’t wait to look into your burning questions.
