Shooter in custody in Everglades National Park

EVERGLADES NATIONAL PARK — Agents in Everglades National Park took into custody Sunday night a man who they said opened fire on park rangers.

Nobody was injured in the shooting and ensuing search. The few available details were relayed by the park’s official Twitter account.

The first tweet, at 8:15 p.m., said the park’s main road, State Road 9336, was closed and encouraged residents in Flamingo to stay inside. Federal, state and local law enforcement officers were searching for the man.

By 9:07, the 33-year-old man, whose name was not released, was in custody, park officials tweeted.

Officials said more information would be released.
