Former USF student arrested after grabbing, kissing woman on Tampa campus

TAMPA — University of South Florida police arrested a former student on Tuesday for an incident that took place over the weekend.

Joe Aoj Carter, 26, was arrested a charge of misdemeanor battery for an incident that took place on Saturday. USF police said around 4 p.m. Saturday they got calls reporting a battery that took place in a Greek Village parking lot.

A male approached a female student while she unpacked her vehicle, police said. The student gave the man directions to the campus bookstore after has asked where he could get an umbrella.

As she was talking to him, he put his arms around her waist and kissed her on the cheek, police said. When the student tried running away, he grabbed her again before she ran away a second time.

Carter was later identified by USF housing staffers as a former student. He was booked into the Hillsborough County jail, where he was being held late Tuesday in lieu of $500 bail.
