What started out as one woman making and selling homemade chicken salad from her kitchen, turned into a unique restaurant concept that now has 39 locations across the Southeast.
Chicken Salad Chick, the nation's only southern inspired chicken salad restaurant concept, opens Sept. 15 at 2790 E Fowler Ave. in University Collection.
The idea for Chicken Salad Chick came in 2008 from the kitchen of founder, Stacy Brown, in Auburn, Ala. Once Brown discovered that it was against the law to make and sell her homemade chicken salad from her home kitchen, she and her future husband and fellow founder, Kevin Brown, opened a small takeout restaurant.
Success and high demand quickly led to the opening of additional locations.
Chicken Salad Chick features an edgy twist on a southern classic, with 15 original flavors to choose including Jalapeno Holly, Fruity Fran and Nutty Nana.
The chicken salad can be purchased by the pound, or on sandwiches. The menu also features gourmet soups, deli sandwiches, side salads, freshly baked desserts, and catering is available.
"We are extremely excited to be bringing this delicious, Southern tradition to the Tampa area," said co-owner Brad Cochran. adding that his partners plan to open six Chicken Salad Chick in the Tampa Bay area.
"To be able to share the best chicken salad in the South with a brand new market is just a thrill for us."
