TAMPA — Now that the School Board has approved a search firm, members are preparing to nail down specifics about the search to replace Superintendent Jeff Eakins.

Board members received an email this week from their attorney, Jim Porter, asking them to answer some key questions in preparation for a workshop scheduled Thursday.

The questions:

What date should the Superintendent start? When should advertising begin? How long should the search take?

The board will also discuss how many potential candidates should be evaluated, how many finalists, and how the board can be most effective in working with Ray and Associates, the search firm.

There are questions about community engagement. What should that look like? What groups should be consulted?

They have also been asked to articulate “what are the key qualities the Superintendent should possess?”

The meeting begins at 10 a.m. and it will be held in the auditorium at school district headquarters, which means it will be telecast on the district’s website.
