Ocean Properties, developer of a new hotel on the site of the former Adam's Mark on Clearwater Beach, revealed an artist's rendering this week of what the hotel will look like.

Construction will begin soon on the curved 15-story hotel on S Gulfview Boulevard. It will be completed in about 18 months.

Clearwater Beach residents and visitors shouldn't be alarmed today if they hear loud booms. Three explosive tests will be done at the site between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. to give engineers information about the soil and rock composition. An official with contractor Moss Construction Management said the noise will compare to the sound in Raymond James Stadium after the Buccaneers score a touchdown.

Surrounding beach and water areas will be cleared before the detonations, according to the city.

The 30-year-old Adam's Mark was collapsed by explosives in 2005.
