Religious institutions across Tampa Bay have suspended in-person gatherings and urged caution among their members as the coronavirus continues to rock routines across Florida.
The Catholic Diocese of St. Petersburg issued a dispensation for mass services.
Churches including Hyde Park United Methodist Church and Bible-Based Fellowship Church have suspended in-person gatherings and will broadcast their Sunday morning services online.
At least one synagogue, Congregation B’nai Israel of St. Petersburg, has canceled all of its programming for the next 30 days. And the Daarus Salaam Mosque in Thonotosassa encouraged its members to take extra precautions, including leaving seniors at home for a recent Friday prayer service.
