Iconic Florida retailer Bealls has announced that it will temporarily close its stores.

“Out of an abundance of caution we have decided to temporarily close all of our stores,” CEO Matt Beall said in a statement.

The statement notes that Bealls, which is based in Bradenton, had “taken unprecedented steps to keep our stores clean and our employees safe” over the last several weeks and has not had a confirmed case of coronavirus as of Thursday.

The closing went into effect Friday and includes Bealls Oulet, Burkes Outlet, Bunulu and Home Centric.

The online outlets BeallsFlorida.com and BurkesOutlet.com remain open.

Bealls, which was founded in 1915, has more than 500 stores.
