See a week in pictures from Tampa Bay Times photographers, Aug. 24-29

A closer look at a photo editor’s favorite images from our visual journalists.

Staff photographers work closely with editors and reporters to illustrate stories through pictures.

Here are just a few images captured from events over the past week and what I liked about them.

I liked this image’s simplicity. It fit well with a story about coronavirus testing.

I love the interaction between the father and the crossing guard as he walks his sons to the first day of school in St. Petersburg.

This image represents a memory we have all had as children in school. I love the body language between the subjects.

This picture is a different take on the first day of school in the age of coronavirus. The expressions between the mother and the son convey their feelings clearly.

This image tells so many stories without saying a word. The photographer told me that Gulf High School had no issues with him photographing off property but it was a different story when he moved over to Gulf Middle School.

I have to include one of my pictures (yes, I do get out and shoot as well). I am a sucker for images within images.
