Winn-Dixie’s parent company has received 8,100 more COVID-19 vaccines to distribute across its Florida pharmacies.

The additional Moderna vaccines allow the grocer to expand the number of locations that will offer vaccination appointments. Southeastern Grocers, which owns Winn-Dixie, Fresco y Más and Harveys Supermarket, began offering vaccines through a federal program on Feb. 11. The new allotment of vaccines will be available across 69 locations — 26 more stores and 10 more counties than when the program began.

Four of the newly added stores are in Hillsborough County. Southeastern Grocers said the added locations were chosen to help reach underserved communities.

The grocer also said that as more vaccines allotments become available and more segments of the population become eligible, the chain will work with the state and federal government to coordinate drive-thru clinics.

Southeastern Grocer pharmacies will provide the vaccines to those 65 and older or to front-line health care workers. Appointments must be made online.

A total of 64 Winn-Dixie stores, two Fresco y Más stores and three Harveys Supermarkets will have the vaccine available. Those who are eligible for the vaccine in Florida can make appointments at the following websites:
